Enrolling Preschool and Kindergarten Now for 2012-13!

Song Garden Preschool offers an education for your whole child – spirit, mind and body. We strive to create an optimal environment for children to imitate and explore.

To nurture the balance and wellbeing of the growing child, rhythm underlies our mornings together. The flow of our day includes circle activities, storytelling, puppetry, art projects, preparing and enjoying organic snacks, indoor and outdoor free play and rest time.

During daily ‘circle-time’ the teacher shares poems, finger-plays and songs with themes that connect the children to their natural environment e.g. the seasons and wildlife. We also engage in practical activities such as cooking, cleaning and gardening.

The work of early childhood is exploration through play. Our classrooms are furnished with natural fabrics such as soft colored silks and hand-dyed wool; simple toys made out of wood, nuts, seeds and seashells allow the children to fully enter activities with their imagination. Within a safe, relaxed, nurturing environment vivid imagery and song is used to gently guide the children through transitions.

Each day rain or shine we enjoy outdoor free play on five acres of Sewallcrest Park, a pesticide-free inner city green space with community gardens and old growth trees.

Various festivals are celebrated throughout the year to acknowledge deeper connections with the seasons of the Earth.
